In the spring of 1961 I was in Washington, D.C. on a high school class trip. While in the U.S. Capital building I recognized Senator George McGovern from South Dakota behind us. No one else seemed to notice.
As noted in a recent article on Time.com, Bill and Hillary Clinton started out in Austin, Texas as McGovern supporters in 1992. And now Barack Obama has shown up there in a cowboy hat to grab a piece of the action.
I believe that these two seemingly opposing stars will run together on the Democratic ticket in 2008, Senator Hillary Clinton for president of the United States and Senator Barack Obama for vice president.
